# WaxTrack

> WaxTrack is a vinyl collection app for iPhone. Scan a record, find the exact pressing from its deadwax matrix code, and see what it sells for on Discogs. Free during the TestFlight beta; requires iOS 17 or later.

WaxTrack identifies records from the album cover, barcode, center label, back cover and, when those aren't enough, the matrix code stamped or hand-etched into the runout groove (the "deadwax"). Reissues often copy a cover exactly, but they can't copy the matrix code, so the deadwax is what separates a first pressing from a later reissue.

Values come from Discogs' suggested price for the exact release, adjusted for the copy's condition, and checked against the lowest current listing. Example from the app: Blue Train by John Coltrane (1958), Near Mint copy, $240.00 (lowest listed $120.00, suggested Near Mint $240.00, suggested Mint $520.00).
